“Love life, engage in it, give it all you’ve got…because life truly does give back, many times over, what you put into it.”
This past Saturday I volunteered with others in my graduate program for Auburn's "The Big Event." Over 2,400 students offered their time at 193 local community job sites; we were assigned to work on several projects for a high-needs school that was using maps almost 50 years old among the many major updates needed. It was inspiring to see everyone use their day off to advocate and provide a helping hand, and big-bellied, seven-months pregnant me tried to contribute where I could. It only takes an afternoon of this to regain perspective on the impact of investing in others, even if they're perfect strangers.
