.Campus Crowd.

This Saturday, we went to Auburn to hang out all day and watch Auburn vs. Florida on campus with our friends.  G ended up getting a ticket to the game, so baby girl and I stayed behind and had a fun afternoon chatting and eating at the tailgate spot; Dylan was spoiled with tons of attention from all the girls. 

I'm not sure if I can come up with anything bad about this time of year. 

.We Went to a Farm.

Kallan and her fiance Kris had their tailgate wedding shower this weekend at her family's farm.  We all dressed in Auburn orange and blue, even the sweet babies. It was a mastered combination of country charm and the unhurried southern attitude, as we sat in rocking chairs and enjoyed burgers and homemade icecream in the clean outdoor air.

.Ice & Luck.

Only in the south does the whole town close down because of a little ice and snow.  An unexpected snow day, while relaxing, would have been much more useful during the semester rather than the first day of classes but I'll take it.  Movies, puppy nap time, and crossing off much on my to-do list while trapped at home wasn't so bad, except poor G still had to go work.  Once he came home though, we were able to curl up under the covers and watch the nerve-racking BCS National Championship.  No big deal, we're only National Champions!!! 

Tomorrow was supposed to be my first day back of classes, but it's already been canceled due to weather.  Guess I'll just have to emotionally prepare for my first day on Wednesday consisting of work and six hours of class... at least I have my new {cool} briefcase to help me cope with the increased stress with resuming my workload.  It's the little things that can keep you positive. 

.Into the Sunset.

Alicia and Eric had their wedding at Oakhurst Farm and it could not have been a more beautiful day.  A day full of pictures, laughs, sneaking glances at the Auburn/LSU game (the deejay kept the party informed of the score), and the bridesmaid duty of trying to keep Alicia as happy and stress-free as possible. 

It was a day spent well with those near and dear.

I can't really explain what this is or what message they were trying to get across

We rarely get an open Saturday where we're both off (hence why our anniversary trip to Charleston has been postponed several times).  When we finally realized this opportunity at the end of the week, we decided to spend the wonderful fallish afternoon with what may be our only chance to tailgate for the season.  What a season Auburn is having so far thanks especially to our quarterback and coach.  Being a part of Tigerwalk and rolling Toomer's Corner for the first time [although I've been an Auburn student for several years] was an incredible way to end my school-spirited, eat until I couldn't breathe day.

Also one of my best Alicia had her bachelorette party in Atlanta this weekend.  I hated to have to miss it, but you looked gorgeous in the pictures and I can't wait to be there for your special day next weekend!

.Football Foodie.

When school started I knew my newfound appreciation for trying out new recipes, or for cooking at all would be on hiatus [who would have the desire or energy when getting home from class around nine at the earliest to still have homework??].

Because we were having guests over for the football game this weekend, I spontaneously decided to make the effort to mark another recipe to-do off my list.  For some reason, I don't like getting recipes from cookbooks and such.  Cookbooks make me feel overwhelmed, while I feel much more comfortable borrowing them from fellow bloggers where I can see an actual mortal found success in their attempts.  I wrote about how much G loves brownies here so when I saw this recipe on Everyday Musings [among many brownie recipes I look forward to tackling soon], I had to try for him.

These Cheesecake-Marbled Brownies required common baking ingredients so I was relieved I didn't have to track down some foreign product, cooking utensil or research a fancy technique.  I was pleasantly surprised at how smoothly a dessert from scratch went, but when taste-tested, the consensus was just a little more sweet added in next time.  Of course, I'm sure the dogs thought it tasted just fine when they devoured several of the brownies themselves... but that story is for a different day.  No worries, most likely due to the very little chocolate the recipe actually called for, all pups are safe to cause mischief another day.

.Nachos, Wings, Fries and Sweets.

I love college football season.  Not because I am a diehard sports fan, but mostly because it's a reason for friends to get together and eat every game day.  I consistently embarrass and frustrate my friend Virginia with the lack of Auburn football knowledge I possess, even after attending Auburn for years now.  I know the basics, I just tend to get distracted easily... plus isn't that what the ability to pause and rewind live tv is for? 

I also had a lovely dinner Friday with my friend Ashley who was vital in the planning of my Stepford Wife birthday this year.  You know you're having good dinner conversation when your husband politely calls and asks when to expect you home for the evening and you suddenly realize you've been sitting and talking at the same restaurant for four hours. 

Add some luck with a few pieces of home decor that we found after searching for ages, and what a productively fun weekend this was.
