.The last shots.

A few last shots from the day before darling Mila joined us just 8 weeks ago.  What an exhausting, sticky and sweet day it was.  So far, Dylan has adjusted better than I ever thought possible, and a lot of my worries seemed to have been in vain.  Which happens often, and I'm thankful for that.  Life would be so boring if you're always right about it all.

Happy two months Mila girl!

.Rookies no longer.

Our first week together, much smoother this time around, perhaps because we are no longer rookies.  This rhythm we know, still fresh in our minds, unlike the unknown territory of raising your first.

Dylan is in love with her little sister, giving dozens of kisses, and totally ignoring Mila's personal space.  At the hospital, when it came time to check Mila's vitals, Dylan very seriously said to the nurse, "be nice!"  It's adorable, and I hope in the future that protectiveness and love wins over any jealousy or competition.

So far Mila seems laid-back and low maintenance, but as time goes on I look forward to better knowing this new soul.

P.S. The rest of the littlest nursery.
P.P.S. Our other first week.

.Introductions.

That feeling of meeting someone and yet just knowing that belonging.  That knowledge that there was always a distinct place for them and how quickly it feels natural and like it's always just been.  And this whole new future with them can be imagined all at once and it's no longer scary nor overwhelming, but just a part of your course.

Mila, what a wonderful shock to our system you've been.

.A limited time.

It is only when we truly know and understand that we have a limited time on Earth and that we have no way of knowing when our time is up that we will begin to live each day to the fullest, as if it were the only one we had.

Katie previously captured our growing family here and here.

.Oh, baby baby... the littlest nursery!

For littlest baby girl, I obviously wanted to create a different space than her sister's when it came to feminine and playful, without being too literal or traditional.  What we ended up with was a bohemian and off-beat nursery that just feels fresh and fun.

Less than two weeks until this next adventure begins, and I'm definitely starting to feel more emotional as I reflect on the last stages of what could very well be my last pregnancy, as well as the end of my sweet girl's reign as only child.  While this pregnancy has been more exhausting and physically tolling, I have to give due credit to doctoral school and work stress, and that wild toddler of mine for her contributions, and be grateful that so far littlest baby has been trouble-free.
